445 S First Street
San José, CA

Morgann Trumbull Projects (MTP) is thrilled to announce our second pop-up location at 445 S First Street, San José, CA, where we will host a series of exhibitions and events over a three-month period.

Located in the SoFA neighborhood, a block from the Institute of Contemporary Art San José, the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, and MACLA/Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana, and half a mile from the San José Museum of Art, Morgann Trumbull Projects pop-up is in the heart of the San José art scene. MTP looks forward to actively participating in the community through regular gallery hours and extended hours during First Fridays and in partnership with neighboring institutions after hours events.

MTP will present two major group exhibitions during its residence in San José. Complimentary secondary exhibitions will be featured in the inner “mini” gallery. During the first round of shows, Ancestral Resonance, a four-person exhibition exploring ancestral histories and futures, will be paired with Flat File Show, an extensive collection of contemporary works on paper by artists from the Bay Area and beyond. These shows will be on view from Friday, September 5 to Saturday, October 11. The second round of exhibitions will be on view from Friday, October 17 to Saturday, November 22.

In addition to standard public gallery hours, MTP will be hosting innovative and community facing programming, such as hosting artist talks and exhibition walkthroughs. Utilizing the 445 S First Street space’s potential as an art hub, MTP is hosting a community press pop-up shop, where it will present books, limited edition publications, and ephemera published by numerous independent Bay Area presses in the “library” at the back of the space. Each press, in addition to their merchandise, will have corresponding programming on weekends throughout the three-month run. Participating presses include Sming Sming Books, Bathers Library, The Quarterly Report, and People I’ve Loved. Check out MTP’s website for a full listing of participating presses and their schedule of events.

Morgann Trumbull Projects will occupy 445 S First Street, San José, CA 95113 from September 5 to November 22, 2025. The gallery will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00pm, and by appointment.
