A Pop-Up Exhibition on View at
1912 Market Street
San Francisco
Morgann Trumbull Projects is proud to announce our inaugural exhibition, …before you become forest again…, a pop-up presentation featuring work by Conrad Guevara, Nathan Lynch, Anna Kunz, and Karla Wozniak. The exhibition will be on view from June 9 to July 5, 2025. An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 6 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The exhibition centers around concepts of growth, collapse, and regeneration across the medium of sculpture, painting, and print.
The title, …before you become forest again…, is taken from a Rainer Maria Rilke poem from his Book of Hours. The poet articulates an acute ecological awareness, acknowledging that the structures humans have built upon the earth’s surface are inevitably going to be returned to the wilderness from which they were once born. He seeks to find understanding, acceptance, and solace in this cyclical certainty.
The underlying concepts of growth, decline, and renewal that infuse Rilke’s poem are ever relevant in our world, from personal, societal, environmental, economic, or technological. We each experience these patterns throughout near and distant history.
Echoing Rilke, whether in the repetition of gesture, the reuse of found materials, the layering of color, or the additive process of the accumulation clay forms, the artists in the exhibition each address the regenerative process in which one action informs and provides foundation for subsequent action. Each aspect of their work acts as a call and response to the subsequent step, constantly building, modifying, adjusting, and creating something new that could not exist without its predecessor. The artists, whether consciously or unconsciously, address the repetitive, the circular, the recurring, and the periodic and capture an energy that poignantly resonates in this moment in time.
…before you become forest again… will be on view at 1912 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 from June 6 to July 5, 2025. The gallery will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00pm, and by appointment. For inquiries, please email info@morganntrumbull.com or call 650-257-0485.

About the Artists
Conrad Guevara is a multi-disciplinary artist who works across media, including sculpture, watercolor, and performance. In addition to his own practice, he is a member of the artist collective Bonanza, whose work strategically challenges the fixity of identity through different forms of signaling, posturing, flexibility, and resilience. Guevara lives and works in Oakland, CA.
Nathan Lynch is a sculptor and performance artist who has made collaboration and experimentation major components of his practice. His concerns for political conflict and environmental upheaval are filtered through notions of absurdity, hand fabrication and the dramatic devices of storytelling. Lynch lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an Associate Professor of Ceramics at California College of the Arts.
Anna Kunz makes works on paper, paintings, sculptures, installations, and projects that seep out of the rectangle, often using painted and dyed fabrics that function like nets to capture and manipulate light and color. In her prints, Kunz works intuitively, mirroring her painting style in which each color or gesture informs the next. She explores doubling and mirroring within the color and compositions. Images then emerged and were combined and turned. This imagery refers to the cycles of life in nature, the cosmos, and the body.
Karla Wozniak creates paintings that exist on the edge of representation and abstraction, creating a visual world that suggests a kind of synesthetic experience. Wozniak lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an Associate Professor at California College of the Arts.
